Frequently Asked Questions
Will the wedding be held indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outdoors, weather permitting, with the reception held indoors.
Is there a room block at the Schlosshotel Kronberg?
Yes, please see the ‘Room Bookings' section. You need to reach out directly to us, and we'll allocate the rooms. We *highly* suggest booking your hotel room as early as possible, as the size of our hotel room block is limited.
Are kids invited?
While we adore your children, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate them for the celebration. We look forward to spending time with them on another occasion
How should we get around the area?
The local train network (RMV) and the national train system are very well built out. We recommend downloading the DB app (available in English and Korean) to check schedules and buy tickets easily.
For Taxis, Uber does not work in the area, so instead, it’s highly recommended to download FREENOW, which is a very popular local taxi app.
What currency is used, and how does tipping work?
Germany uses the Euro. While credit cards (especially Visa and Mastercard) are much more widely accepted now, Germany still relies heavily on cash compared to the US and Korea. It’s highly recommended to carry some physical Euros for small bakeries, local markets, or smaller taxi fares. Tipping is slightly different than standard US rates; it is customary to tip about 5–10% by simply rounding up your bill when you pay the server.
Will stores be open on the Sunday after the wedding?
This is a big one for weekend travelers: Sunday closures (Ruhetag)! Almost all supermarkets, pharmacies, and retail shops in Germany are strictly closed on Sundays. Restaurants, cafes, and museums usually remain open, but guests should plan to buy any necessities or snacks before Saturday evening.
Do I need to bring a power adapter?
Germany uses Type C and Type F power outlets (the standard two-prong European plugs). Guests traveling from the US or UK will need to bring an adapter. Note for our Korean guests: Korean Type C/F plugs generally work perfectly in Germany!
Do I need to speak German?
English is very widely spoken in the Frankfurt and Kronberg areas, so you won't have trouble getting around. However, downloading German on the Google Translate app for offline use is always a handy backup, and locals always appreciate a friendly "Danke" (Thank you) or "Hallo" (Hello)!
What will the weather be like, and what should I pack?
August in the Taunus region is generally beautiful and warm, but keep in mind that European air conditioning isn't always as strong or ubiquitous as it is in the US or Korea. Pack breathable layers, comfortable walking shoes for the cobblestone streets, and a light jacket for the cooler evenings.
